🧵 DTF Heat Press Application Process (Step-by-Step)
Gather Required Equipment & Accessories
You will need:
- DTF printed transfer (on PET film)
- Heat press machine
- T-shirt (cotton, poly, or blend)
- Teflon sheet / silicone sheet
- Heat-resistant tape (optional)
- Weeding tools (tweezers or scissors)
Prepare the Garment
- Lay the T-shirt flat on the heat press platen.
- Pre-press for 1-3 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Ensure fabric is smooth and centered.
Position the DTF Transfer
- Place the DTF transfer print side down on the garment.
- Align artwork exactly where desired.
- Secure with heat-resistant tape if needed to prevent movement.
Set Heat Press Parameters
🔥 Heat Press Settings
- Temperature: 315°F
- Time: 10–12 seconds
- Pressure: Medium
Cover and Press
- Place a Teflon or silicone sheet over the transfer.
- Close the heat press and apply heat using the settings above.
- Maintain steady pressure for the full press time.
Peel the Transfer Film
- We follow the film manufacturer’s instructions:
- Peel cold on the DTF film type.
- Peel slowly and evenly.
Final Cure (Recommended)
- Re-cover the design with Teflon or parchment paper.
- Press again for 3-5 seconds at 315°F with medium pressure.
- This improves durability and softens the print feel.
Cool & Inspect
- Allow shirt to cool completely.
- Inspect for full adhesion and clean edges.
- Shirt is now ready to wear or package.
